Lullaby by Justin Roberts Kids Music Review | Apartment Therapy

justinroberts11912.jpegJustin Roberts has always been a master at getting kids revved up; grownups and kids rock out to his power-poppy songs written from a kids' eye view. With Lullaby, Justin and friends play listeners out to dreamland.

I had to take a nap after listening to the album, no joke. Lush orchestral instrumentation comes courtesy of Chicago Symphony Orchestra players including a string quartet, French horn, English horn, oboe and harp. The ten new songs reflect the genre-play that we have come to expect from Justin Roberts, who winds listeners down with bits of R&B, soft rock and bossa nova. Best-loved songs in our house include "Count Them As They Go" and "Polar Bear."

Justin Roberts has always been a favorite in my family. I often forget to change discs after preschool drop-off and find myself enjoying his music all by myself, and Lullaby is no exception. I anticipate it will become a standard addition to our bedtime routine. Lullaby is in stores this week.
